When you need a tough shoe to get you through tough trail conditions, look to the HOKA ONE ONE Speedgoat

October 22, 2015

Taupo, New Zealand (August 18, 2015) – Inspired by ultrarunning star Karl Meltzer and the rugged conditions of the Speedgoat 50km race, the HOKA ONE ONE Speedgoat with its forgiving midsole and aggressive tread pattern is built to tackle technical terrain with ease.

For confidence-inspiring traction and stability on the trail, the Speedgoat features a Vibram outsole with four-millimetre lugs and flex grooves – a first for Hoka. The no sew upper supports the foot, while a ground-rubber toecap provides increased protection on rocky trails. This new silhouette provides lightweight traction and stability all within a package that weighs less than 280 grams. When you need a tough shoe to get you through tough trail conditions, look to the Speedgoat.

“Not only is it a good looking shoe but it performs superbly under pressure and distance. It is the best shoe for super-rough terrain thanks to the deep aggressive tread of the Vibram outer and holds onto any greasy mud and loose rock without slipping. I did notice the shoe has a tough thicker upper mesh that handles the force and movement of the foot on steep downhill descents and the constant changing of direction on the trails. With a different shape to previous Hoka models I found the lower profile of the Speedgoat gives a feeling of being closer to the ground, and the lightness factor sees it well suited to trail racing.” Jo Johansen, Hoka One One Sponsored Ultrarunner

The HOKA ONE ONE Speedgoat (Men's | Women's), with a RRP of $259.95, is available online at www.hokaonone.co.nz and the following running specialty stores nationwide: Shoe Science - Albany | Podium Podiatry - Tauranga & Whakatane | Torpedo7 - Auckland, Albany, Mt Wellington, Hamilton, Taupo, Nelson, Christchurch & Queenstown | Outside Sports - Te Anau & Wanaka | The Frontrunner – Christchurch.

I’ve always believed that when leading a movement, you might just need to step out into the grey, with confidence, in order to inspire others. People are most likely to change their actions when they see others modelling the behaviours they are being asked to adopt; if I’m not up for doing something, then why should I expect others to be? This is the way I am approaching my new role as Executive Director of New Zealand’s national Te Araroa trail.

THE BENEFITS OF CROSS TRAINING WITH LATOYA SHAUNTAY SNELL

March 18, 2022

There’s tons of fitness articles and podcasts on the market explaining the benefits of cross-training; I am definitely one of those people that sing a variation of praises about it too. My name is Latoya Shauntay Snell — a multisport athlete, content creator and founder of food and fitness blog Running Fat Chef. I have been a Global Athlete Ambassador for HOKA since 2019. Since 2014 I’ve completed close to 200 running and obstacle course racing events, including 5 ultramarathons and around 25 marathons. An immense amount of credit goes towards incorporating cross training into my regimen.
