Pushing the boundaries of what the Clifton is capable of, the new Clifton Edge drives innovation further with a brand-new foam and cutting-edge geometries. Building on the ultra-light, incredibly soft ride experience, the Edge affords an effortlessly smooth heel strike with an extended heel. Debuting an extremely resilient foam that’s lighter than any proprietary HOKA foam to-date, the Clifton Edge is finished with a uniquely flared outsole that cradles the foot and creates a supportive base.
The Clifton Edge resembles the Clifton series closely, however, the two shoes do differ.
Firstly, the Edge offers more stability than the Clifton. It's perfect for the runner who wants more stability, but does not necessarily want to pick a stability shoe. It is also designed with a much wider midsole, which protrudes from the heel and makes the Edge way more stable to run in. Almost like a mild stability shoe.
The midsole of the Clifton Edge is also made from a new material that is both lighter, more robust, firmer, and more responsive than the Clifton series. Therefore, the Clifton Edge is more suited to run fast in, compared to the Clifton model.
Secondly, the unique heel is intended to create a softer landing and a more flexible transition, which is indeed noticeable when you run.
Weight wise, the Edge is lighter than the Clifton. This is due to the outsole of the shoe being made without rubber, which was otherwise intended to extend the durability on the Clifton model.
