No Brand Has Ever Done What HOKA Has Just Done...

For the second year in a row, HOKA topped the shoe count at the Hawaiian Ironman World Championships in Kona. These triathletes are some of the fittest and most competitive endurance athletes in the world, and in the biggest race of their lives a majority chose HOKA! After dethroning Asics in 2017, Hoka One One once again prevailed as the most-worn brand—capturing the feet of 17.7% of the athletes.

No brand in history has dominated on road AND trail in the way that HOKA has in 2018, because just last month we were also the most popular brand amongst trail runners in the unofficial UTMB shoe count. Where just like KONA, UTMB is the pinnacle of the sport.

So what shoes did these world class triathletes chose at Kona?

Overall the male competitors favoured the light and speedy Mach, whilst the women favoured the Clifton as their lightweight option. The Mach and Tracer featured in the front third of athletes with some quicker runners also choosing the incredibly light Cavu, with Clifton and Arahi making a showing about 15% of the way into the field, and Bondi 6 appearing in the second third of the field and especially deeper past the 13-hour mark, alongside competitors who chose the highly cushioned and deeply stable Gaviota.
