SAY HELLO TO JAN FRODENO
The HOKA EU 2020 roster was already the strongest it has ever been. With 90 of the best athletes in Europe joining forces with HOKA ONE ONE, including 53 of the Continent’s finest triathletes, we were already in pretty good shape.
But HOKA is a bold, innovative and fearless brand. We don’t stand still for too long. Which is why we’ve just made our team even stronger and added a global superstar to the mix.
Jan is bit of a triathlon legend. For one, he’s an Olympic champion, winning gold in Beijing in 2008. But that success was just the beginning. Since that golden moment 12 years ago, the athlete affectionately known as ‘Frodo’ has gone on to establish himself as one of the sport’s all-time IRONMAN® greats.
After claiming his first IRONMAN® world title at Kona in 2015, Frodo has gone on to top the podium in Hawaii on two more occasions, most recently when breaking the course record last year. If two world titles over the half-IRONMAN® distance and further podium finishes weren’t enough, Jan is also the world record holder for the full-IRONMAN® distance.
Jan is an athlete at the top of his game. But he is also more than an athlete. Frodo is fearless in his approach to life. He is purposeful in setting goals and achieving them and bold in his training regime.
Jan is passionate in his desire to connect with fans and followers of the sport. He always finds the positive in any situation. We’re excited to join forces with Jan for the next three years – and beyond.
It’s time to raise the game. It’s time to fly.

I’ve always believed that when leading a movement, you might just need to step out into the grey, with confidence, in order to inspire others. People are most likely to change their actions when they see others modelling the behaviours they are being asked to adopt; if I’m not up for doing something, then why should I expect others to be? This is the way I am approaching my new role as Executive Director of New Zealand’s national Te Araroa trail.
I am sure there are many people like me that require a goal, a challenge, something they work towards. We don’t need to let things out of our control change this! We just need to RESET. Nic Gill, AB"s strength & conditioning Coach, and HOKA ambassador, gives us his advice on how to keep going when your training and race plans are changed.
There’s tons of fitness articles and podcasts on the market explaining the benefits of cross-training; I am definitely one of those people that sing a variation of praises about it too. My name is Latoya Shauntay Snell — a multisport athlete, content creator and founder of food and fitness blog Running Fat Chef. I have been a Global Athlete Ambassador for HOKA since 2019. Since 2014 I’ve completed close to 200 running and obstacle course racing events, including 5 ultramarathons and around 25 marathons. An immense amount of credit goes towards incorporating cross training into my regimen.
