I started running seriously just over 4 years ago when a friend of mine asked if I wanted to run an ultra marathon with him. I've been hooked on trail running ever since. Spending most of my time in Europe has meant I have access to some of the best trails and races. I love the challenge of running, and the freedom I get from being lost in the hills.
I have always enjoyed running, but have just started taking it seriously the last 18 months. I have found that my passion is in the trails and more specifically the ultra marathons. Running has provided me with the opportunity to explore and see the world in ways that I otherwise couldn't have. It has pushed me out of my comfort zone in ways that I couldn't have imagined, both mentally and physically.
This year I competed in the OCC UTMB race, having been accepted as an elite participant from my results in the MCC 2018. I went into the race knowing I was going up against 3 world champions in different trail running fields and my result from this would show me where I realistically placed in the trail running field. I finished 6th female in the OCC and placed 64th overall. A result which I am incredibly happy with, and also know I can improve on a lot.
I spend around 7-8 months of the year training, racing and working in Europe, and the other 4-5 months based out of Nelson. I live between Andorra and Girona with my NZ partner George Bennett, who is a professional cyclist for the team Jumbo Visma.
It was through George that the concept of my art business began, hand painting custom road cycling shoes. I am able to work from anywhere with my business which enables me to travel a lot, and run some of the best trails around the world while working. So it's fair to say 'shoes are a big part of my life'.
I found that HOKA's are by far my favourite shoes and they have helped me to get some great results. I choose to run in the Speedgoat and Torrent.
