HANNAH LAWRENCE - PROFESSIONAL HALF IRONMAN & PILATES INSTRUCTOR
Hannah is an Auckland Based Professional Triathlete, Pilates Instructor, Run coach and Mum! As an athlete Hannah describes herself as "very determined, motivated and driven to do whatever it takes to succeed. I love training as much as I do racing and the lifestyle of been outdoors challenging and pushing myself daily."
As an Instructor and coach, Hannah is aka the ‘smiling assassin’ as she loves to encourage and challenge people to push their limits and achieve their best, but always like to keep it fun.
Hannah came into the sport of Triathlon later in the game at the age of 30 from a running background. She raced cross country, track and marathons and spent 6 years living in Gunnison Colorado firstly on an athletic scholarship at Western State University then racing marathons on the elite road racing circuit. Her transition into Long Distance Triathlon came through frustrations of running injuries and turned pro after 2 years racing age group.
Becoming a Mum for the first time has created a whole new set of exciting challenges to for Hannah and the journey has given her a new appreciation for the value of time (and sleep!) and the importance of creating a good balance in life.
Hoka One One Favourite Shoes:
- Clifton: All training short or long, road, gravel road, dry trails, ½ Ironman or full Ironman distance races The most versatile shoe I have found to date. It has the perfect balance of cushion, spring and responsiveness. Its super light and from fitting so once they are on they feel like a part of you. I am a mid foot striker and I am pretty hard on my shoes so I like a decent amount of cushioning in the mid to forefoot area of a shoe. In the past I have had to compromise between getting that cushioning but sacrificing the lightness or responsiveness of the shoe. The Clifton gives you both.
- Clayton: Road, shorter training runs, faster interval sessions, ½ Ironman or Ironman races For when I want a little more responsiveness and a slightly lighter more snug fitting shoe, for a faster feel whilst still feeling the benefits of the mid foot cushion.
- Speed Instinct: Off road trail running, gravel road, training and racing, This shoe has fantastic tread on the sole giving great traction for the slippery and or muddy terrain, and handles the wear and tear of the trails surfaces. It is form fitting and super light, and has a great underfoot feel, so you can feel confident in your body’s response to the any trail terrain. Keeping you agile and fast.
